The train is a rail convoy transporting people or goods on a railway line. By extension, we call train the service that constitutes each of these transports, regular or not. Finally, the train is a mode of transport, taking place on railway. The train can carry passengers or goods. A locomotive is a rail vehicle that provides the motive power of a train. The word originates from the Latin loco - "coming from a place", ablative of "locus", place - and medieval Latin motivus, "which causes movement". A locomotive has no payload in itself, its main function being to tow a train and possibly to provide heating or power supply. Traditionally, locomotives pull trains: they are therefore located at the front of convoys. However, more and more passenger trains are reversible: the locomotive pulls the train one way and pushes it back. In this case, the driver controls the locomotive from a pilot car at the front of the train.
