Lion (Animals)
The male lion only occasionally hunts, he is responsible for fighting intrusions on the territory and threats against the troop. The lion roars. There are currently in the wild more than 16,500 to 30,000 individuals in the African savannah, distributed in a dozen subspecies and about 300 in the Gir Forest National Park in northwestern India. He is nicknamed "the king of animals" because his mane gives him an appearance similar to the Sun, which appears as "the king of the stars".
