The hen is a farmyard bird, which is the female of the Rooster. She is a very sociable animal, she lives well in a group, but there is still a certain hierarchy. Like all birds, the hen has wings, but she can not fly very high or far. It belongs to the genus Galliform birds. The pattern of its plumage and its feathers are of different colors according to the race to which it belongs. The eyes are placed on each side of the head, which limits its vision. She wears on her head a red skin called a crest and which stands up and blushes according to her mood. The crest of the male is much larger than that of the hen, which allows to differentiate them more easily. Its legs are covered with scales and end with long claws. She uses it to scrape the soil in search of seeds that she will feed on. His feathers are a protection for his body, but spawning, brooding, and bad weather spoil them. That's why once a year, in the autumn, the chicken moults and new feathers grow back. She spends a lot of time taking care of cleaning and smoothing her feathers, the sand bath being one of the means she regularly uses. Since she has no good defense, if there is danger, she will use the leak and shriek to warn the whole gang. The hen who wants to brood has a particular behavior, like to walk with the wings that hang on the ground. She emits a peculiar sound, stays in the henhouse on her nest, and refuses to leave her eggs. The life span of a hen depends on the species, and is around a dozen years old.
